Flake is a sister of Gortinreagh Flyer (who was very successful in puppy and novice stakes in 2013).  She was born on 17th March, 2012.  She is a daughter of FTCh Ballyellen Cody and Gortinreagh Clover (FTCh Stanedge Bracken x IntFTCh Lefanta Kira).

As I write this in 2014, I have just returned from trialling on the Scottish circuit were Flake fulfilled everything I had expected her to.

Her first trial was the Scottish Gundog Association’s Novice Stake at Glenlivet.  Conditions were very blustery making grouse very unsettled.  There was also a good sprinkling of hares to liven up proceedings! Flake ran well and had a very clever find in a ravine where the wind was every which way.  Flake came out as top dog on the day – a very good start to the trip.

Her next outing was at Jim Howden’s Northern Counties Novice Stake when another good find and good running saw her declared as winner.  She didn’t figure in the Pointer Club of Scotland Novice, but returned to form in the North of Scotland Gundog Association Novice at Tillypronie, when she once again claimed top spot.  Another sterling performance saw her win the SFTA Novice in the Scottish Borders when she proved she was the top Novice of the circuit with some brilliant work in windy and tricky conditions.  4 top spots out of 5!  Not bad for a youngster.
